Granada TV Episode Found!
Film is Fabulous! and De Montfort University’s Cinema and Television History Institute (CATHI) are pleased to announce the recovery of a missing children’s programme from Granada Television. The item, which was found in the private film collection of the late Tim Beddows, is:
Clapperboard: Death on the Nile (Broadcast: 23rd October 1978)
Hosted by Chris Kelly, Clapperboard was a children’s programme that ran from April 1972 to January 1982. The recovered material includes all the Death on the Nile film report from the original programme, which makes up the bulk of the final production. The programme, as broadcast, included opening titles followed by an introduction from Chris Kelly. This studio material, along with the postscript and closing titles, are not present on the film. Consequently, the programme remains incomplete.
An essential part of the Film is Fabulous! process is the team must demonstrably prove the existence, and state the whereabouts, of the episodes they recover. The copy of Clapperboard will be returned to the ITV Archive.
Film is Fabulous! Preserving film treasures for future generations.
