Film is Fabulous! and De Montfort University’s Cinema and Television History Research Group are pleased to announce that films from the private collection of Joseph Infanti, late BAFTA member and London film society enthusiast, will be catalogued and preserved as part of the initiative.

Joseph was an avid film enthusiast, and amassed a substantial collection of 16mm prints. Interestingly, his enjoyment of film extended to analysing and reporting on the content of the material he owned. Each film was accompanied by a detailed breakdown of the stars, their performance, and other key data.

The films and equipment will be catalogued and tested. The process of handling and cataloguing film is a slow, labour-intensive, one. However, at the end of the process the team will know if the collection contains any rare or missing items. These will be returned to the rights holder for preservation purposes.
