Blackpool Film Convention 2025

The Film is Fabulous! team are delighted to participate in the Blackpool Film Collectors’ Convention 2025, which will be held at the Grand Hotel, North Promenade, Blackpool, on Sunday 16th November.

The Blackpool Film Collectors’ Convention is widely regarded as the premier event for collectors in the U.K. It’s been held in Blackpool since the 1970s, and offers three consecutive days of entertainment.

For many people, the highlight of the weekend is the Film Fair on Sunday, which features dealers selling a wide range of films, projectors, accessories and books, and there’s also a hugely popular auction.

This year, Film is Fabulous! will have their customary four tables in the main dealer room, from which they’ll offer over 250 titles on 16mm. There’ll be a great selection of Cartoons, including Disney favourites.

A number of single, and multi-reel, documentaries and short films will be available, with the likes of Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, and the Three Stooges. There’ll also be some vintage television.

However, the multi-reel feature films will, undoubtedly, be sought-after by film collectors. Among the titles being offered for sale, are:

  • The Absent Minded Professor (1961)
  • Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971)
  • The Castaways (1962)
  • Herbie Rides Again (1974)
  • The Island at the Top of the World (1974)
  • Snowball Express (1972)
  • Son of Flubber (1962)
  • The Ugly Dachshund (1966)

If that wasn’t enough, at 2.30pm in the Lancaster Suite, Dick Fiddy will act as a special guest host, to introduce four episodes of vintage television that are being screened by the Film is Fabulous! team:

  • Emergency Ward 10 – Episode 383 (Broadcast: 18th October 1960) Starring: Charles Tingwell, Jane Downs, Jill Browne, Desmond Carrington, Ellen MacIntosh, Murray Hayne, Ann Firbank, Peggy Ann Clifford, Robert McLeod, and Douglas Ives.
  • Hugh and I – New Year Resolutions (Broadcast: 4th January 1964) Starring: Hugh Lloyd, Terry Scott, Vi Stevens, Jacquie Wallis, Robert Raglan, Jack Haig, Patricia Hayes, and Harry Brunning.
  • Tell Mummy (Recorded: Circa 1964) Starring: Marigold Sharman and Ronald Lacey. This unique, missing, item was directed by Tina Wakerell as part of the BBC course she attend in 1964 and 1965.

At 3.30pm, there’ll be a 10 minute break, so those who wish to attend the auction can do so, without disturbing the show. Thereafter, the program will continue with:

  • Vendetta – The Running Man (Broadcast: 30th December 1966) Starring: Neil McCallum, Janet Munro, and Sebastian Breaks.

Entry to the screening hosted by Dick Fiddy is included in the £6 entry fee to the Film Fair, payable in cash on the door. We believe this represents outstanding value for money.
