BBC War Drama Discovered!
Film is Fabulous! and De Montfort University’s Cinema and Television History research centre are pleased to announce the recovery of an episode of vintage television, which is missing from the BBC Archive:
Moonstrike: He Who Tells (Broadcast: 4th July 1963)
Produced as an anthology series in 1963, ‘Moonstrike’ encompassed 27 episodes. Each 50 minute programme was a self-contained story, recounting acts of resistance by Allied agents in occupied Europe during the Second World War. The recovered episode was directed by Prudence Fitzgerald. It starred Peter Beton and John Brown.
Only 3 episodes in the series had survived, prior to the discovery of the 16mm telerecording. The episode was recovered from the film collection of a deceased private collector, together with a number of other missing and rare items of television. The print will be donated to the BBC Archive for preservation purposes. It will be screened at future Film is Fabulous! events, with other recovered episodes of vintage television.
Film is Fabulous! Preserving film treasures for future generations.
